Walters & Co is proud to have manufactured and supplied the Livery Companies of The City of London for over ten years. We pride ourselves in the fact that all our livery gowns are handcrafted by skilled local tailors. We also like to support British trade, so where possible we try to source fabrics from companies that mill in the UK.

Details are kept of most gown & robe designs for the majority of Livery companies in London. We are sure to take special care in attending to the quality and detail of any robes we make, to maintain the integrity of the company’s historical pageantry.

In the 15th Century these distinctive robes incorporating coloured hoods and armorial bearings that identified the different members and the various guilds they represented. Although these gowns have over the years adapted into the gowns we now recognise as Livery robes, much has stayed the same.

We have many years of experience under our belt and are able to assist and advise on restoration and repair, as well as being able to replicate and re-design when requested.

We recommend a consultation where possible, we are happy to host at our store in Oxford or are able to meet in London if it is more suitable.
